A fine example of Wiggins' mature style with the characteristic "Inness greens" and soft focus atmosphere much in evidence. "Seaside Sheep Pastures" is more of a landscape painting depicting sheep grazing than strictly a "portrait" of grazing sheep, a genre for which Wiggins and fellow Lyme artists Matilda Browne and William Henry Howe were widely regarded at the time.
